Welcome to Les Bois

Are you looking to get away from it all and rent quiet, well maintained and well equipped cottages in rural France? We have two self-catering gites which are ideally situated to explore and experience the French culture and countryside or just relax and soak up the atmosphere of rural France.

Nestled in a corner of the Poitou-Charente region of France and in grounds of over 2 acres, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but no more than 5 minutes from the nearest town, Les Bois is situated on the edge of woodland with outstanding views overlooking the valley of the Tardoire. We are on the border Charente and the Dordogne and surrounded by an abundance of flora and fauna.

The nearest village (3/4mile) has a butchers and a post office, while the nearest town is only a few minutes drive away and has a swimming pool, additional shops, restaurants and a supermarket.

This area is ideal for those wishing to relax and get away from it all or, for those wishing to indulge in more active pursuits, there is an 18 hole championship golf course (5 mins) which also boasts its own pitch and putt course, We have a selection of Golf Equipment for hire to help you make the most of your time. You may also take up the challenge of canoeing on the River Tardoire, swim, fish or sail in a variety of local lakes all within half an hours' drive or use the local swimming pool. There are also marked walks through the countryside and for the really energetic bicycles are available. The rich and varied heritage of France from its prehistoric caves through to its chateaux, medieval town centres and more contemporary tourist attractions are well represented all round this region.

The medieval towns of Cognac, Rochechouart, Brantome, Perigueux & Limoges are also worth a visit and most being approximately hours drive. More locally La Rochefoucauld boasts its own chateau and the city of Angouleme, known for its walled city and ramparts, is also well worth a visit. For those who don't mind travelling a bit further, Sarlat and the heart of the Dordogne, Futuroscope at Poitiers and the unspoilt sandy beaches around Royan and the Ile D'Oleron are well placed for a day trip.

The list of places to visit is too long to go into in detail. If you want to know more just ask either before or during your holiday.
